With the turn of the decade, 311 Day 2010 proved to be remarkably different than 311 Days past. The event was held in Las Vegas, NV, for the first time ever due to a medical convention in New Orleans that made hotel accommodations scarce and far too expensive. The show took place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center on the strip, which featured a “round” setup – which meant fans were seated in a 360 degree configuration around the band (some seats were behind the stage). Additionally, the 311 Day 2010 show was made available to fans across the world to watch live via streaming webcast for the very first time.
311 played a total of 60 songs broken down into five sets, including a special five-song “dub reggae set.” Setlist highlights included the live debut of the Uplifter tracks “Sun Come Through,” “Two Drops In The Ocean,” and “Get Down.” Numerous other b-sides and rarities were played, including “Brodels” (last played in 2000), “Color” (last played in 1997), and “Slinky” (last played in 1993).
The concert celebration featured extravagant special effects and between-set entertainment. Chad’s drum kit was elevated and rotated 360 degrees numerous times, and during the “Applied Science” drum solo, the full band drumline rose 15 feet above the stage. Lasers and video screens were heavily utilized throughout the show, and entertainment such as acrobatic and hula hoop contortion acts provided intermission entertainment. The show concluded with a stage dive from Nick during “Fuck The Bullshit” and a group bow from the entire band.
